The members of Aptera Strings have music performance degrees from Northwestern University, Roosevelt University, Oberlin Conservatory, DePaul University and University of Illinois.

We’ve performed all over Chicago in venues ranging from small chapels to large concert halls, including Double Door, Beat Kitchen, The Point in Hyde Park, St. Martha Catholic Church, Caldwell Lily Pool, A New Leaf, Ganz Hall, Schram Memorial Chapel, Bond Chapel on the campus of University of Chicago, Grace Lutheran Church, Newberry Library Ruth Page Theatre, Little Goat, Spiaggia, The Rookery, First St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Our Lady of Pompeii, the Empty Bottle, Kenilworth Country Club and many others.

We are members of many professional ensembles including the New Millennium Orchestra, the Northbrook Symphony, Chicago Composer’s Orchestra, Chicago Dance Crash, Bailiwick Chicago, Ravenswood Community Orchestra, Renovo String Orchestra, Mucca Pazza, Girl Group Chicago and Vox 3 Collective.

In addition to classical performances, we are avid recording session musicians, having appeared on many pop, country and rock albums. We love to improvise and arrange string parts for all styles of music. Some of the artists we’ve worked with include American Idol Season 9 winner Lee DeWyze, Grammy-nominated children’s artist Justin Roberts and more.
